Sodium? Fat? Trans Fat? Sugars? Carbohydrates?
Do you find food labels confusing? Who doesn’t?
ShopRite and the Community Health Center of Richmond are hosting a special grocery store tour to help shoppers interpret nutritional labels and make healthy choices on Tuesday, July 23. Join us from 10 to 11 a.m. at the ShopRite at 985 Richmond Avenue for some fun and free shopping tips. ShopRite dietitian Andrea D’Oria-Cameron will tackle myths and misperceptions about food labels.
Sonylma Ramos, CHCR nutrition program manager and certified diabetes educator, will translate from English to Spanish. We’ll talk about what to look for on a food label and how to avoid the advertising hype. We’ll suggest tasty alternatives and what to buy so you can prepare delicious, heart-healthy and low-sodium meals at home. The tour is free. Please call us at 718-876-1732 to let us know you’ll be there.
