Community Health Center of Richmond to Host Free Health Fair

National-Health-Center-WeekThe Community Health Center of Richmond is celebrating the 2013 National Health Center Week with its Fourth Annual Health Fair from 1:00 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14. The FREE health fair will feature medical screening tests, food, games for the children, educational fun and giveaways in the parking lot next to the CHCR building at 235 Port Richmond Avenue, Staten Island, New York 10302.

More than a dozen local businesses, nonprofit organizations and government agencies will have booths at the CHCR Health Fair to provide samples and information about health, beauty, nutrition, transportation, prenatal care and social services. There will be a bounce house, balloon sculpting and face painting for children. Health care professionals will conduct free screenings, including rapid blood glucose tests and blood pressure checks. CHCR also will give away backpacks filled with school supplies on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The 2013 Health Fair participants include Health Plus Amerigroup Real Solutions, Richmond University Medical Center, Staten Island University Hospital, Free Lighting Corp, Costco Wholesalers, Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, Project Hospitality, the New York City Fire Department, NYC Compost, Nate’s Pharmacy, Healthy Families, Henry Schein, McKesson Corp., HealthPlex Dental, the American Diabetes Association, New York City Department of Education and Laboratory Corporation of America.

CHCR, a Federally Qualified Health Center, provides affordable, accessible, quality health care to all, regardless of ability to pay. The community health center is opening its second facility, the CHCR Dental and Medical Special Center, this fall in the North Shore of Staten Island to provide dental, ophthalmic, diabetes management and other specialized care.
