City Councilwoman Debi Rose has given the Community Health Center of Richmond more than 100 backpacks filled with school supplies to provide to our pediatric patients who visit their health care providers this fall. Thanks to the efforts of Councilwoman Rose and her staff and the generosity of her constituents in the 49th District/Staten Island, families will get extra help this year with the expense of equipping children to return to school.
“Councilwoman Rose continues to be a strong supporter and advocate of CHCR and the services that we deliver to our patients and community,” said Henry Thompson, CHCR Chief Executive Officer. “We are thankful for her efforts to go above and beyond for her constituents.”
This is the third year that Rose and her staff have raised donations from the community to provide free backpacks and school supplies to Staten Island children. Rose’s office also gave backpacks to the pediatric medicine departments at Beacon Christian Community Health Center and Mariners Harbor.
“Staten Islanders were very generous,” Rose said. “Our goal is to supply every child who visits the Beacon Christian Community Health Center and CHCR with a brand new backpack.”
Backpacks are available on a first-come, first-serve basis for patients who visit their health care providers. To make an appointment for a back-to-school wellness checkup or to update immunizations, please call 718-876-1732.
